| Mary
has been in the Limousin business since the breed was first
imported to Canada in 1969. Rick, a farmer from Oyen, Alberta,
joined her in the business when they were married in 1982. Together,
they built a cowherd that was based on the foundation of cow
longevity. To obtain maximum stayability, the cows must be fertile,
have excellent udders and be structurally correct with good
feet.

A solid cowherd produces great bulls and Ivy Livestock has
built a strong commercial customer base, selling 30-40 breeding
bulls by private treaty every year. Repeat buyers appreciate
Ivy Limousin bulls that sire easy-calving, high-growth, muscular
calves that top the market. Ivy Livestock also sells several
bulls to purebred breeders and has produced such breed-greats
as Ivy's Molten, Ivy's Pld None Better and Ivy's Revolution.
All bulls are performance tested and ultrasounded for carcass
quality, in addition to receiving a breeding soundness exam.
They are culled heavily for birth weight, soundness, growth
and carcass traits so only the best sell.

Danny, Tyson and Brandon have taken a keen interest in the
show cattle and have exhibited very successful show strings
with Mary supervising the past few years. Ivy Livestock showed
the National Champion Female in 2003 and 2005 with Ivy's Necessity
and Ivy's Near Perfect. Both females were the high sellers
in the Canadian Western Agribition Solid Gold Sale in their
respective years - Necessity sold for $21,000 CAN to Y2K Land
& Cattle, while Near Perfect and her bull calf were purchased
by Venture Livestock, Wat-Cha Land & Cattle and Nordal
Limousin for $22,000 CAN.
